2009

Congratulations to all our members who have participated in AHA competitions (Eastern Canadian Breeder's/Zone 9, Tulip, Region 18, etc.) and out on the trails in CTR & Endurance.

Our own Kim Woolley has been named "Coach" for Canada Team West headed to the Kentucky Cup Endurance Test to be held in October 2009. This is a test event leading up to the 2010 World Equestrian Games and is a 160 km FEI 3* event. Nancy Zukewich is the Assistant Chef d'Equipe for Canada Team East and we are eagerly waiting to see if other SVAHA members will be named as riders and/or crew to this prestigious event! Lee Hutten, Julie Green and Julia Curry have all nominated their horses.

The Ontario Provincial Distance Championships saw a lot of our members competing or supporting in the various events. Nancy completed her first 50 mile ride, Lee her second 75 mile ride, Mike Merriam his first 30 CTR and Kim received the Bronze medal in the two day 65 mile CTR! Julia completed her first 75 and FEI 2* level. Congratulations to all!

One of the "big" accomplishments has been made by Lee Hutten. With the support of her mom, Colette, she travelled to Henryville, Indiana and participated in the North American Young Riders Endurance Ride (FEI 2* - 120 km) held in conjunction with the NAYR FEI Championships. She along with two other Canadian girls from B.C. (Ariel & Kate) and coaching from Canadian top Endurance riders, Gail Jewel and Elroy Karius, rode as a team to clinch the Silver medal spot on the podium!
